RUNNING HOPE THROUGH AMERICA is one athlete’s attempt to run 50 miles in each of the 5 states, within two months. Beginning on April 19th, 2010 in New Jersey, and finishing in Wyoming on June 19th, 2010, the event will include major cities, small towns, and several islands. Lisa Smith Batchen is one of the country’s top endurance athletes and coaches. She has been featured in numerous documentaries, books, and articles. For this event, Lisa will be undertaking the most demanding challenge of her running career as she attempts to be the first person to run an Ultra- Marathon in every state.
Lisa will be joined by a small support group comprised of a television producer, a school teacher, a potato farmer and one nun-- Sister Mary Beth Lloyd. Sister Mary Beth, Lisa’s friend of many years, is not only an experienced runner in her own right, but may also be the world’s only marathoner who runs in a full habit.
Working with us is Bob Lanza, former general counsel of the NBA players association and partner at the firm Hiscock and Barklay in New York, to bring major sports figures from all disciplines to participate in the run.
All funds raised through this event will be donated to charity. More information including a profile of the charities can be found at :
