The New Runners Society is like a "Welcome Center" you no doubt have visited when going to a new state while traveling in the U.S. The NRS is simply an organized doorway into the Birmingham Track Club. Whether you are a new resident in the Birmingham area, here for just a short time or new to the running lifestyle all together, the NRS will help you get running FAST! If you are already a runner, but new to the Birmingham area running community, you’ll benefit from the opportunities given to you by the NRS to meet other runners and find running & training partners / groups that are at your desired level.
If you are new to running altogether, you’ll benefit from all of the above plus you will be given information and training that will help you grow your passion for a running lifestyle. Any NRS sponsored socials, runs or races are open to Birmingham Track Club members and non-members alike. We encourage BTC members to come to these events not only to participate themselves, but to support new runners and to share their experiences, success and even failures.
The NRS’s weekly runs are designed to allow many different running levels to participate at the same time. The NRS has 2 "run captains" at each NRS run who not only know the routes but can also help anyone with their pacing as well as answer any questions that may arise. No one is ever left behind while running and no embarrassing attention is given to anyone.
Are you ready to hit the road? Weekly runs for new runners occur every week. You are cordially invited to come to them and start running with us. Feel free to contact Danny Haralson at [president@birminghamtrackclub.com] for further information, or check out the Message Boards!
