The Vulcan Run 10K Moves to Sloss Furnaces in 2018
November 3, 2018 /Birmingham, AL
This fall, the Vulcan Run 10K moves to Sloss Furnaces for the 44th running of this classic event. With a change in venue comes anew course, yet one that keeps much of the original course intact. In typical Vulcan tradition, the first 5K will be work, with a couple of short yet steep climbs, as well as a long but gradual climb along Highland Avenue. The second half of the course, however, will be lightning fast! Following a right hand turn off Highland Avenue onto 20th Street South, runners will scream downhill and remain on flat land until the finish, with the only significant climb coming at mile 6 as runners cross the 35th St bridge on the return to Sloss Furnaces.
Cadence180 Consulting is proud to once again serve as the official race consulting company for the Vulcan Run 10K, presented by the Birmingham Track Club. Held on November 3rd in Birmingham, AL, the Vulcan Run has long been considered Alabama’s most prestigious 10K, as well as one of the South’s premier running events. In addition, the Vulcan Run is the longest running road race in the Birmingham area, and remains the RRCA Alabama State 10K Championship event.
